Disturbing facts: Only 4 guild members have logged on in the past week, and only 8 within the past month. 16 out of the total 25 guild members have not logged on in a month or more. It looks like about 10 characters haven't been played since they were rolled and invited to the guild.
We are all busy people; most of us do not consider our pirates to be our "mains" and so it can be easy to let the characters drift along. The best solution that comes to my mind is to have a reacurring weekly instance run / questing group / roleplaying session.
We have a group's worth of characters in their 30's who could trounce Gnomergen and raise some ruckus in Scarlet Monastry. But this proposal is in no way limited to those who have spent a bit of time leveling: everyone who is still interested in this project is encouraged to come! I recently had the captain invite my priest character who is level 15 at the moment, and she would love to heal some young guildies through the Deadmines or wherever else.
So post what you want! I propose Sunday afternoons or evening, but am open to all suggestions. In my mind it would be optimal to aim for instance runs, with roleplay before/during/afterwards as it suits our fancy. So give us a post saying what your goals are for your character, and what time would be good for you.
Yarr!

Scarlet Crusade is having some serious issues. I was only able to log in once at all this weekend, and when I did it was really creepy: absolutely no one was on (I was in Ashenvale at the time) and after a few moments I realized why no one was on, the lag was nuts. Since instant cast buffs wouldn't land, I figured trying to fight a monster would mean certain death. There went Alvilda's plans for the weekend.
There is no breaking news on the log in screen at the moment, but Scarlet Crusade doesn't show up on my list still, so I am thinking it is still down. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. |

As you may or may not know, I've had some concerns about the future of our guild due to lack of player presence. I'd like to open up a discussion of how people feel would be best to proceed.
Here are a few thoughts that I've had in the past week or so:
#1 -- (stated in the previous post)--
Beginning active guild recruitment on the server. To date, everyone save for only one or two people origionated on live journal, and they came into the fold through a connection to one or more of the LJ players.
#2 -- (Guild Associations)--
As you may or may not know there are quite a few pirate guilds on Scarlet Crusade. It's also come to my attention that there are a few medium to heavy RP "women's" guilds that are not devoted to the pursuit of sex and "cyborz."
One in particular that I have been directed toward is called Aria. I honestly don't have any information directly from their members, but from what I understand the spirit of their organization is not alient to that which spawned the Booty Babes. They, so far as I am aware, are not a pirate guild.
I raise this question because, I have considered approaching the guild master(s) of Aria and similiar guilds to see if they'd be interested in joining a common channel to interact in. Back on Earthen Ring we had a channel for three guilds that were allied and networked together.
The advantage to pursuing a partnership like this would be that we could maintain the 'pirate' flare of the Booty Babes, while also reaching out to others who do not play outlaw characters, but no less appreciate a community of gamer women.
#3 --- (A Redirection of Theme) ---
From an RP stand point, it's becomign harder and harder to justify Mariel's continued leadership of the guild. Although in our last meeting she did win the support of some by revealing emotions that were not strictly concerned with freedom, the fact is she's spending a whole lot of time on land, and not so much in coastal cities.
That being said, ICly my character could very well begin moving the guild to incorperate not only salty dogs, but also land based folk with similiar sentiment though lacking a distint attachment to the sea.
The question is, would it do too much to destroy the theme of the guild you all joined for?
#4 --- (Guild Name) ---
This is a touchy subject... but I'm considering a modification to the guild name. I do not know what yet, however I am experiencing more and more problems with rude, hurassing, and disrespectful players OOC. If recruitment is going to take a leap towards finding existing characters within the chat, I'm affraid it'll only get worse. A casual comment from time to time I can brush off, but when I advertise at 2:30 AM on a Wed in the guild recruitment channel, and recieve 3 sexually hurassing responses from guys based on the guild name... it might have to be altered for the sake of keeping my sanity. Yes there's always reporting people.... but once you get enough people making comments there ends up being more time sending e-mails to bliz than there is using the client software.
Back to my first statement however, the reason why I feel this is a touchy subject is because that it's BECAUSE of the guild name that our organization even started. For those who are not familiar with the OOC guild history, it basically started back when I was still on Earthen Ring when I made a comment "Hee hee... If this were a pirate guild ... we could be called the booty babes.. The Booty Babes of Booty Bay! lol ... and we could have a catch phrase 'It's our duty to sieze that booty. Thank you and good night.' "
I think the conversation was alot more humorous than when I paraphrased it because the entire party chat was cracking up, and it inspired a post on the WoW_Ladies community which was intended as a joke. When people began responding "I'd so join a guild like that!" I began its creation more seriously consideration.
The charter was filled in less than 24 hours; One week later, we had over 20 members.
Part of me feels that by giving up the cheeky name part of the guild history is also lost, no less it is a thought thath has come to mind.
Your thoughts? |

Sadly as I'm sure those of you who do still sign in have noticed, our guild has more or less become non-functional. I didn't want to have to do it, but as of last night I'm advertising in the guild recruitment channel for new members to help keep it alive.
It would have been good to keep it limited to all LJ folk but it doesn't seem to be practical at this time. |

A few nights ago I was on during the small hours of the morning nans saw the message "Dikka has left the guild." I tried to whisper to her and she wasn't online... in fact before she allegedly left the guild she wasn't online either so far as I could see.
Anyone know what has become of our guild gnome? I thought she was enjoying herself... maybe the player deleted the character? |

Dear crew, I'm goin on a little trip, and seeing some new lands, and resting and thinking and walking. I didn't know what to make of the Captain's new stuff, and I still don't. I think she's happy, so that's good. I don't know what to make of my stuff either. I don't know what makes me happy, or what I'm supposed to do to make me happy. Killin stuff is good. I like that. But it's only good for a little while. You guys are getting strong at fighting, and don't need my help too much like you used to. The captain's got a lot of friends who are good at helping better than me, so I'm not worried about that. So I'll go do some thinkin. I know the captain thinks I wanted her job, but I don't think I'm good at keeping a crew together between fights. She was gonna quit, and I would have stepped up, but she didn't, so she's captain. We got our disagreements, but I don't wanna fight about it. As long as the crew is happy, I don't complain none. Be good and stay outta trouble, or I gotta come back and kick your butts. -AevrysCurrent Mood: chipper

A while back, I promised to try to provide my character background, and then never found the time. Tonight's IC coterie meeting wound up using some of that background, so it's suddenly more relevant. Insomnia has struck me once again, so let's see how well I can write this while over-tired. ( It be gettin' long, so I be hidin' it away... )Current Mood: exanimate

After the meeting we had a DM run. After which, I am now very well equipped. I have NEVER managed to win respectable gear in DM, Im unlucky with dice I guess. :( Until tonight.
